PROPOSED BUILD ALTERNATIVES
(Updated 08/2011)

This page includes the most recent information related to the proposed Build Alternatives being evaluated in detail in the Draft EIS along with the No-Build Alternative.  This information is considered draft and subject to further changes.  The proposed Build Alternatives were determined using an alternative screening process that considered: No-Build, TSM, TDM, Transit, and toll and non-toll Build Alternatives. Step 3 of the screening process started with the development of three design concepts for the Multi-Modal Upgrade, which is the only reasonable and viable solution based on screening Steps 1 and 2. These design concepts form the basis for the proposed Build Alternatives:

Members of the Community Advisory Group also identified a concept for a multi-use path as part of the Alamo RMA’s Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) approach. This concept led to the inclusion of a 15.5-mile multi-use path as part of Build Alternatives 1, 2, and 3, along with improvements at interchanges and intersections to better facilitate the safe movement of cyclists and pedestrians.

The following maps provide a side-by-side comparison of Build Alternatives 1, 2, and 3. Map files are in PDF Icon .pdf format for printing landscape 11”X17”. Enlarge maps on screen for best viewing.
